What you should never flush down the toilet

• Flushable wipes, which do not break down like toilet paper

• Paper towels and tissues

• Cotton balls, swabs, and dental floss

• Grease, fats, and cooking oil down any drain

• Feminine products and diapers

• Medications, which harm the water supply

Why it matters

These items snag inside your pipes and catch everything that comes after, building into a stubborn clog deep in your line. What goes down easily can be expensive to pull back out.
