What you should never flush down the toilet

Flushable wipes are just the start. Here is what really belongs in the trash, not your pipes.

Featured image for the article: What you should never flush down the toilet

Your toilet is built to handle exactly two things: human waste and toilet paper. Almost everything else can clog your line or damage your plumbing, even products that claim otherwise.

The worst offenders

  • Flushable wipes, which do not break down like toilet paper

  • Paper towels and tissues

  • Cotton balls, swabs, and dental floss

  • Grease, fats, and cooking oil down any drain

  • Feminine products and diapers

  • Medications, which harm the water supply

Why it matters

These items snag inside your pipes and catch everything that comes after, building into a stubborn clog deep in your line. What goes down easily can be expensive to pull back out.

When in doubt, throw it out. If you are already dealing with a slow or backed-up toilet, we can clear it fast and check the line for buildup.
